Well a win here would shut everyone up forever.

Forever?...

That would be refreshing.

Reel him in, Gerry.

Gee, I wonder who knew that when he kept saying we weren't out of it.

People say stuff here just to stir it up. I wish Duke didn't offer but we are in the mix. As I said, this kid is very savvy. I think he will weigh how stacked Duke always is and will likely be. They've gone the one-and-done route and he might be lost in the shuffle. He's confident in his abilities, so he could very well have a different perspective. If he just wants to go to Duke because they are his dream school, then...game over obviously.

The good thing is this kid won't drag this out and come out of a clown car like some recruits I could name. He will think about it and choose his best spot without the histrionics.

Seems like this kid wants to get his visits out of the way and make a decision..i like it! Seems like lately everyone wants to play it out and string everyone along until the last minute. Kind of refreshing this kid is just making his decisions without all the hoopla.
The key here is the kid already has a Duke offer - nothing to hold out for now. These things get dragged out when they hope an improvement in play leads to a Duke/UK offer.

Very true. But throughout this whole process cole has been quick and decisive. He has narrowed his list down a couple times and did it without any drama or big announcement and hasn't wasted anyone's time. He knows what he's looking for and making his choices. I like it. I get that some hold out for other offers etc and others are waiting to see playing time possibilities and who may be leaving early for NBA or who else is coming in etc but I do feel like some and that's the key word some not all have a good idea of where they are going or at least where they want to go and play this new recruiting game with social media platforms etc and just string some schools out that realistically they probably had no chance or didn't want to go to because they already had the offer they have always wanted or have been looking for. Again that's certainly not all cases because it's a huge decision for kids to make and tons of factors go into it but it's refreshing the way cole has handled his. Some just like the publicity and media craziness I think.

Hopefully with him wanting to make a decision soon is better for SU since Duke is involved with so many players who will decide much later.

Yeah, that does play into it (or could). Like I said, he's savvy and if he decides soon, Duke could stack their roster. Then again, this is a very confident kid. Again, let's not discount the other teams, especially Villanova.

I think the fact that we are sending a player similar to him. Who was sort of off the NBA radar coming into Cuse into the NBA this year after only two years here...has to be a draw as well.

What's left unsaid? It feels like it's been too long since this kind of an immediate impact player made us their first visit, and relatively early on. I'm kind of surprised someone hasn't asked for updates already.

My head says we have a real chance with this kid. So far, my gut isnt weighing in(although I did take a break from eating to log on specificially for this thread, so my gut may understandbly have mixed feelings). Duke is his dream school, Cuse and Nova are regional, so that leaves Xavier as a wildcard in my mind. Something likely stood out there, to differentiate them. I'm not familiar with their current lineup, but it wouldnt shock me if even more playing time were guaranteed there.

So, does the pay side have updates on how the visit is going? Doesn't seem like the type to "pull a Tucker", though I wont fault him for not doing so. ;)

My projected odds:

Duke 80%
Syracuse 10%
Xavier 2.5%
Nova 7.5%

Duke is his "dream" school. I hope he chooses SU, but I'm not banking on it.
Would bump our chances up to 30% and Duke at 60.

I'm not going to get too high or too low on this just because Duke got involved. We are in great shape and have just as good a chance as the other 3 teams IMO. I am also not expecting a commitment on this visit. I think he goes to all of his officials and then decides a week or two later.

I am more concerned with Nova than Duke

He's a good fit for both of their offensive systems IMO. I think playing time right away is more of a sure thing at Nova. The way JB puts the ball in players hands and lets them do their thing has to be appealing as well. If you can shoot JB is going to give you the green light. If you can make plays JB is going to give you the ball.

I know a guy who's very tight with Jay Wright. I'm going to try to get some info this week. Of course, Jay Wright told my contact that he thought Lonnie Walker was going to Arizona. The guy does get the info directly from Jay. That shows you how fluid recruiting can be.

Is it this guy?:

like, why would duke slum it with us beggars??

They need bench players. ;) Or maybe K is just a sadist, similar to corporations buying a patent and sitting on it so that their competition cant use it, like certain non gasoline engines, etc.

I'm hoping Gerry is working some of his clutch magic today.
