Thamels Has Babers Top UMD Option

This is a concern I share. But when I hear people here make it seem like Wildhack is sitting on his thumbs for this process, I just don't buy it. But agree, there's only so far he can go.
One thing I do know is JW is not sitting on his thumbs. On the contrary, I think his finger’s on the pulse as much as we could hope for.

I mean, we are set up for an 8-11 win season next year with an attendance bump of around 3000 per game ... Plus additional press and merch sales. Take the ACC money and put it to work with Babers and staff

There are no more Doug Marrone walking through the door

You know what sucks, I mean really SUCKS? Now Babers is going to have to deal with this BS. He's going to have to respond and no matter what he says, or doesn't say, people are going to interpret it as "where there's smoke, there's fire" BS we always hear.

Wildhack somewhat has his hands tied behind his back. At the end of the day though, it's his responsibility to sell Babers' value and worth to Syverud and the BoT compensation committee when discussing a sizable increase in pay and asst coaches' pay.

Says the guy defending Scott Shafer. I'll worry about what's next when something beyond speculation and rumor happens.
Babers is at the top of every college coaching search and probably several NFL searches as well.

I remember when we were criticizing Michel Cohen and his act and he was compared by some of his supporters to a young Pete Thamel. Well, I’d have to say I completely agree now lol.

Babers to Maryland is just idiotic nonsense. It makes literally no sense on a number of levels.

Why would he leave here just as he is starting to turn the corner to go to a regional peer school that’s a dumpster fire of a job right now? Not to mention, Maryland literally switched conferences because they were broke.

Not well run administratively. Horrible PR right now. Peer school in arguably an inferior football conference. System wise would be more or less a complete rebuild. Makes no sense.

He will, in fact, be rumored to be a candidate for a yet-to-be determined number of openings at institutions of higher learning.

I would hope that JW has a blank check when it comes to Football... I say that somewhat jokingly, but if you’re a P5 school and balk at paying good coaches, what’s the point?

You can’t tell me that millions per year up front won’t generate ten-fold in terms of increasing the fanbase and 40-50k per home game vs 20-30k per.

Not to mention the fan experience that provides the memories for our future donors.

Dino is only leaving to go to a program where he can realistically win a national championship in short order, and that isn't Maryland. At best Maryland is a lateral move, maybe with a few $100k a year more. I'd argue it's a step back at this point because it's going to be another 3 year rebuild at minimum, and does Dino want to do that at his age.

I actually had a thought that the Browns are considering him to work with and develop Mayfield.

When did Babers get an NFL reputation for developing QB's?

Correct, never. You literally just make things up and then defend those things for pages on end in multiple threads.
He has the demeanor to be a pro coach. Are you going to say I'm making that up or can't you see that.

You said you thought the Browns were considering him to work with and develop Mayfield. They aren't, not only are they not but there's nothing about Babers resume that screams an NFL team would consider hiring him to work with their QB.

for me, hes a college guy through and through. i don't see him as an nfl guy at all. not because of ability but because of personal preference.
That seems to be his path. I think his offense has caught the eye of a lot of football people college and pro. Just an inkling I had, something about the Browns.

Is his offense really so unique? It’s not like we’re the only team running an up-tempo spread offense.

He/We run it very well, but I don’t necessarily think it’s super innovative.

It’s also much tougher to run in the NFL where the opposing team can impose its will on your defense if you go 3 and out multiple times in a row under 40 seconds of game time.

Lol.

No. That’s not it.
Weren't you one of the people talking trash about Addazio, and now that he has had enough TIME, I don't think anybody is joking about him any longer.
