DW, if this were yo happen, do you think we should stay in the Babers line or do a search and have a whole new start? Because that's what we're looking at. Lewis helped recruited and coached Devito for a year already.

I am sure he would make a great QB coach in the NFL.

Biggest issue would be the $4+ million dollar a year price tag he would come with after this or next year. I don't think NFL QB coaches make anywhere near that.

The only team Dino leaves SU for is USC.

List of schools I could see him leaving for at varying times in the future:
-USC
-UCLA
-Oregon
-Texas
-Texas A&M

Unlikely second tier:
-Baylor
-Arizona
-Cal

Babers would only leave for a West Coast or Texas school where he can run his offense freely with his pick of talent and limited distractions. That’s why I believe at age 55, he’s not looking for rebuild or high pressure job. Call me crazy, but I just don’t see him wanting to leave the situation he currently is in unless his family needs to go back west for whatever reason.

With the current trajectory of the program, there will be few step up jobs to take, and even fewer lateral moves to take. I honestly think he’s going to be here for a long, long time.

Babers has already said he does not negotiate contracts in season. He focuses on football. I bet you see a massive deal within two weeks of the regular season ending.

You can be in denial or you can work out a logical plan to keep DB or speculate on a succession plan. My opinion is there are only 2 candidates: Lewis or Macky, or Lewis and Macky.

Based on this logic, If Urban meyer leaves OSU, Ash should be one of the finalists for that job.

How do you know Wildhack didn't offer him $4M per year at that point, and Dino and, more importantly, his agent, said let's wait a little longer.

Unless someone really knows something about this negotiation, I think everyone should stop speculating. Trust Wildhack. He talks to Dino every week.

And as needed his agent. I would bet the rent Wildhack and agent have exchanged drafts of proposals that include all manner of items from salary, private travel budgets, maybe decision rights on his coaches, marketing commitments during span of agreement, buyout figures,etc...it’s not just the salary.

It's actually refreshing in this day and age that the Newhouse grads are actually trying hard to be objective. As a grad around his time on the hill, Pete was THE Best writer for the DO and i've heard, like Tomcat, that he continues to be a proud alumni and carry the water of Newhouse.

I used to hit the brakes and I’m not one that often sides with board speak.

But Thamel isn’t being objective. He takes shots. Tirico, McDonough, they know how to be objective. Pete is a woman scorned.

Other people say it about Dino because the first one to bring it up is a known alum just spitballing in an article. The Feldmans of the world jump on it because since he went to SU he must know something!

The smart ones know that Dino to the Maryland dumpster fire makes no sense. Their path in the B10 East is much worse than ours in the ACC Atlantic, and they draw worse crowds than we do on a more regular basis. He’s loaded up for next year, more big time jobs might open then. Somewhere that 75k people or more come out to watch the game.

We all knew that once Babers turned SU around the rumors would start and with good reason, he and staff are doing a wonderful job on the Hill. What I'm hoping this doesn't effect/affect (I always screw those up) is that it doesn't hurt recruiting. On one hand it should actually help it but on the other the whispers from opposing coaches might turn some yes's or maybe's into he isn't gong to be there. I'm very curious on how Babers reacts to this on the recruiting trail because we know it's going to be talked/written about by the pundits and let's face it, the agenda seekers wanting to make sure SU's recruiting takes a hit will pounce on every rumor mill out there.

What is so annoying is that even if something isn't true, if a lot of people keep saying it a large amount of people will think it is true, especially if they just regurgitate others article without doing any research whatsoever.
