This is why you play Shrader…

We are 1-0 in games TD doesn’t step foot on the field
That is correct. Good job.

I’m not straight shilling for TD. I see his flaws. I just think people who think GS performance was a nail in his coffin are crazy. They are both imperfect and we’ll need them both. If we go down 21 in the 2nd half of the game, GS ain’t getting it done with his arm

Thrilled we won!

I see this as the coaches handing the ball to Tucker, and saying you are our only game plan. We'll put another RB back there to hand it off to you. We have talented pieces ALL around, but can't figure out how to use them.

Do I think GS is a savior? NO Do I think he starts versus FSU? YES If TD stays will he play again this year? YES probably next week Do I think GS skill set is better for the team? YES

Incorrect. Under pressure he graded FAR better than Shrader. He got rocked just as he released that bomb to Alford last week.

Vs Albany Tommy posted an ELITE 90.4 grade. Garrett a failing 58.6. Thats why so few passes for Garrett. He's a runner. Passing without pressure is the problem.
No one cares about your useless PFF grades against albany, TD has been atrocious as a starter, anyone who has watched him since 2019 liberty game would no it. Devito against ND in 2018 is the same devito we've seen since ED left.

PFF is a group of guys who have never played or coached football and think they are smarter than everyone else. TD is not a good QB, shrader elevates and improves the team, both are flawed but for the Syracuse 2021 team GS is the far superior option.

And what will we say in the ACC when the inability to pass closes up lanes? Do you think we can beat clemson with 6/15?
We’re not beating Clemson no matter who plays QB. The key is to figure out how we beat 3 other ACC teams. I don’t know if Shrader can do that, but it’s possible he gives us a better chance to just run over 3 teams than DeVito does.

Ah yes. PFF is a bunch of nobodies. Surely no real team hires them for stats and grading of players

Lol. Yet all this year, Tommy has been better in the passing game. When a team prepares for us, relying on ONE guy as the entire game plan? It goes south very quickly.

If Tucker goes down? We have NO offense. If we want to abandon our passing game? Ok. I'd take Shrader in the triple option over Devito. I just think its cool to have receivers and QBs that can pass to them. If we have to play checkers, we have to play checkers, and leave the chess pieces off the board. (They are very confusing figuring out how to move them, anyways)

He’s our modern day RJ Anderson. Tucker is Mungro. Our D doesn’t have a Freeney but collectively might be just as good. 2001 we won 10 games and beat an SEC team that was pretty decent. ACC is down. If the offensive coordinator could come up with a game plan, we could win 7-10 games. As is, we should win 6 minimum.
Shrader makes RJ look like Peyton Manning

Tommy's passing game is not winning us real games. I'm not saying that GS is the next coming of DM, but I haven't seen a team come in preparing for TD's aerial assault. We do need to have some balance, but if Tucker goes down, neither QB will save us.

Shrader cannot stretch the D vertically but he can horizontally. The quick throws to the WRs and the short passes he can execute well. He can avoid sacks and keep plays alive. He can keep us out of 3rd and long. He can be an RJ or Hunt like runner. I would love to see UNC Tommy every game but we haven't seen it since.

They don’t want to see it man. They have their regurgitated talking points like a bunch of you know who’s and that’s all they can spout
It’s more than stats and numbers when it comes to those 2. You can almost see Shrader at least having some intangibles and better feel for the game. I honestly don’t think we win with TD tonight

One thing he didn't do..turn the ball over. We can't do that. He will have to pass better as the season goes on.
If we’re being honest, he should’ve turned it over. very fortunate that he didn’t. more than a few balls that easily could’ve been picked off but luckily weren’t.

^^^ This is a perfect way to put it. If we are in a game where the opposition stops giving us the 2 high look, drops their safety’s in the box, and dares us to throw it, we simply need Tommy Devito in the football game. GS might have more situational awareness and more football intangibles but the kid cannot push the football down the field in any capacity. We need both our guys to get to where we need to go. This civil war needs to end.

No, the play calling did
I don’t understand why they didn’t stick with the first half offense mentality. Take a couple shots with a slant or a button hook to Taj. Those sideline option passes almost cost us the game. If the second one was not caught it would have been a fumble. I’m not complaining, but would like to see his passing improve dramatically. If not, teams will stack the box and wear down Tucker (if that’s possible).

As long as Servais has been there and Shrader is having to jump to catch the snap. What in the world?

And most of those yards were YAC.
Starting Shrader was a good move once the gameplan was to run the ball. Liberty made adjustments in the 2nd half and our offense wasn't nearly as effective.

I'll add that it was Shrader's first start in two years. And the coaches didn't show a lot of confidence in him, and played it conservatively as hell [I'm looking at you, punt].

Now that he's got one under his belt, it will be interesting to see if he settles down and the coaches show more trust. FSU on the road is going to be tough -- here's hoping they get pasted this weekend and "quit" for the rest of the year.

6/15 for 77 and he missed a lot of open guys. It’s just not gonna cut it in conference. Flood the box to stop Tucker you win going away.

He’s Rex except he has a running game

TD Can hand it to Tucker 31 times just the same
Except you can see those handoffs come a mile away with Tommy. Shrader did a much better job with misdirection of who had the ball, him or Tucker.

22/37 (59.5%) 317 yards 1TD 1INT
30 Rush 97 yards 4 TDs

32/52 (61.5%) 388 yards 1TD 2 INT
21 Rush 90 yards 1TD

Neither guy is killing it through the air. Their stats are almost identical, granted Shrader has played less than TD, but not by much.

The difference is what happens when the pocket collapses or there are bad snaps. Shrader makes more positive plays so far out of chicken poop than TD showed over the last few years.

He also got lit up a couple times trying to keep it himself. Especially in the second half when they knew we weren’t passing
