As much as I loathe their fan base, the state of WV and their hillbilly blood, I really wish we could've continued that rivalry. I used to love watching our games against them. Both programs' fan bases strongly disliked one another, the game always held a different energy level and there seemed to be fierce battles/fights amongst the players. In light of the massive crumbling of the Big East, this is one of the rivalries that died in the process unfortunately. WVU shipped off to the Big 12, Syracuse to the ACC. WVU may not be on our schedule for years to come, but I'm hopeful that we will see them again in the next 5-7 years.

Some of you may say that the rivalry wasn't what it used to be, but I slightly disagree. Seeing the bitch-slapped look on Dana Holgorsen's face after the shellackings his teams received was priceless. Listening to their passionate, yet moronic fans make up excuse after excuse after excuse was classic. They assumed they would beat us, but we smoked them the last 2 times we met and beat them in a wild one in Morgantown in 2010. The hate and vitriol towards Syracuse was still alive and thriving in the hearts of the people in Bath Salts Hills and Kiss-your-sister-Ville. Well Jim Bob, Billy Joe Ray, John Boy and Annie Beth, we still strongly dislike you as well.

In the meantime, the Schwartzwalder Trophy will remain in Syracuse cozy as it could be. Our current 3 game winning streak against them brings a smile to my face and helps to fill this void in my never-ending appetite for Syracuse football. It is even sweeter thinking about the beating we gave Geno at Yankee Stadium and over the course of his final 3 seasons. Simply said, he got his ass whooped by our D. I mean whooped.

Until we meet again my toothless, hair-lipped foes, here's a few fond remembrances my fellow Syracuse friends can hang onto:

Personally I do not miss them. I like some of the new rivalries that we have.

There aren't really any new rivalries yet, so to speak. BC and Pitt have always been rivals over the years. No one has taken WVU's place though.

Pitt? I'd like it to grow to that - but unless were in some ACC championship games or Dixon decides to coach Fball - it's got a long way to go.

Regarding that last Pinstripe Bowl: it is a fairly rare event to see a safety scored. But really--when have you ever seen two scored in one game???

Are you trying to determine what exactly is in the water in west virginia?

If you couldn't tell, nobody here actually cares about stockpiling all kinds of toxic stuff right next to major waterways... until they're drinking (obvious) poison.

A few months later, I'm not sure anyone cares anymore. Granted, Morgantown is pretty far from where it happened, but the level of overall outrage from the mountain folk is a bit underwhelming. Many stereotypes we like to use on this board are actually pretty accurate, although in all honesty I much prefer the mountain peoples to the cloud of locusts that descends on campus from Jersey every fall. You thought it was bad at SU...well, those are the smarter ones...

I'd play them in a heartbeat.

Agree, WVU is fun to pick on because they make it easy, but they do play football and it was a good game between the schools. It's not like Rutgers whose only redeeming quality is its location.

I'd like to play Rutgers and West Virginia every year. Both fan bases are easy to hate.

If you think the Walmart in Auburn or even Camillus are scary, you should see the one in Morgantown right off I-79.

I bet the Fulton Super-Walmart could give it a run for its money.

I like that we have a 33-27 edge in wins, that we beat them the last three times we faced them.

I didn't like the 8 game losing streak that came off us winning 5 of the 6 previous contests.

BTW, whatever happened to Barbie?
