19 threes? | Syracusefan.com

19 threes?

That was the game plan. Let them shoot the three and protect the inside. There were several missed close outs still.

We out scored them at the foul line by 19...you don't get to the line shooting three although we did foul a 3pt shooter again tonight...

they got 5-6 late and multiple ones off awful shots that somehow bounced around enough to get2nd chances.. when the guards didnt fall asleep we defended it well.

Our defensive scheme was a joke. Coaches made no adjustment to take away the 3 pt line. We played our base defense the entire game designed to limit getting the ball in the paint -- even though that was not BC strategy.

Some of those 3 pointers were being launched from Lexington and Concord.

But BC only shot 6 of 16 from two.

I posted this in the NBA forum about a week ago, but the 2 teams in the NBA that gave up the most 3 points shots are Milwaukee and Toronto (and at the time they had the tow best defensive ratings in the league).

They specifically pack it in to reduce the amount of "easy" two's and make them less efficient. The theory is that teams sometimes have 4 or 5 guys on the floor that can shoot the 3, and they can get a decent look from 3 every possession. So what you defend is what you can control -- reducing the amount and % of the typically more efficient 2 point shots.

Was that a record in 3 pointers given up by Syracuse - Virginia had 18 - 19 may be the new record. Amazing we won by double figures regardless!

It was the record

My favorite comment was that Leonard Hamilton had established a culture "like no other" at FSU. Classic.

Who is running that clown network these days? How do they even consider Corey Alexander for a job, the guy is just turrible. Doesn't SU pump out at least a dozen guys and gals each year that would be 100x better qualified even with little or no experience than him?

Yeah, sure - but, those guys wouldn’t be able to tell us all about who is on their epic group text chain for 10 minutes, now could they?
