It’s Portal time!

i think a lot of these kids are simply keeping their options open. In our case, let’s say we pick up Wahab (don’t think that happens, but helps make the point). Edwards would go from probable starter/25+ minutes to back-up again, with Anselem competing for time, too. Would make sense for Edwards to enter portal without really intending to leave. That may turn out to be a pretty common scenario.

Jeez...that's like the entire Wake team. Forbes looked awful relaxed on the Packer show the other day for a coach who's in danger of losing most of the players on his roster. Having said that, I like the Massoud kid. He could be a nice backup for the 3 or 4 and he's from NYC. He's got a little Marek in his game.

I think Kadary plays 35 mpg and makes All ACC next year, regardless of who else is on the team.
And if that promise has to be made, so be it. I don’t know if JB would do so but Kadary is a major cog to next year’s team improving on this year. Without him, we’re in trouble defensively and in the guard rotation.

I just want to see Kadary running point weaving and crossing dudes over to find Buddy set up for 3, JG, Braswell, Q(?), and whoever else can shoot, and perhaps even lobs to Jesse/Frank/transfer big. We need that element to take the next step. Selfishly, i want to see that and want to see what Kadary could be in this system, which is perfect for him on both ends.

So UNC might lose all 5 big guys? Go pro Bacot and Brooks!

I wonder how many are in a wait and see mode? In other words, they are waiting for the guys in front of them in the rotation to enter, and if they don't enter, those behind them would because their PT would be limited.

Can you head fake someone out of a portal? Let's say you are the starter, you tell the coach hey hold my seat, let me step into the portal so the guy behind me would stay put, then one day before the deadline I back out of the portal into my original seat. Could this happen?

Because JB has an affinity for winning and putting the best 5 on the floor. Other former starters have been jumped before.

If starting is the be all end all and Joe will always be the starting PG then KR should maybe leave. However, over the last 7 conference games they both played exactly 156 minutes. Exactly the same. (had Kadary not been injured he would have played more.) So is it minutes or starting? And if Buddy leaves, Joe becomes the 2 and KR the 1. They'd share the ball handling the same as Triche and Jardine did.

The 2 tournament games it's Joe - 58 min and KR 30 min. But it's hard to really argue who should've played more. We'd have lost without each's contributions. (Joe in the two games leads the team in both assists and rebounds. I know it's crazy but he does.)

Hoops transfer speculation is what Syracuse fans do. It's weird. I mean people have more than half the team leaving right now. We should already be talking about Benny's impending transfer or at least being 1 and done.
If Buddy leaves?
Better chance of hitting the Powerball Jackpot in back to back weeks.

I think Buddy has played his way into a draftable position. Have to strike while the iron is hot

Kid seems to be having the time of his life playing for his dad and at his dream school.Even if he could make a NBA roster do you think he would enjoy sitting on the bench all night watching the game?
It’s not like he needs to go make money so he can take care of his family.

Its a joke.

All Gone. Seriously could happen.

I expect Gumby to go home and play in Europe.
Griff to transfer
Kadary unfortunately to transfer
J to transfer and of course Woody.

I think Q stays and Both Frank and Edwards stay. I can see Frank at the 4 next year Edwards at the 5 and 5star at the 3 with Buddy and Joe.

Biggest loss will be Kadary as you cant replace him.
Remember the year in residence requirement waiver is a one time deal. Griffin already received a waiver so presumably he would have to sit a year. Don't see it.

And why would Kadary leave? Because he hasn't been on the court for the opening tip?

Kind of wish that big man from St. Bonaventure that we lost out on would enter the portal. I actually saw him on a draft board somewhere.

Wait...you see Marek leaving????? I wonder where we have heard that before? Seriously, we will also be hitting the portal. It isn't a one way street. And the better we do in this tournament, the more likely that some good kid will want to come join us.

Why doesn't NCAA host a portal madness party in a city after March Madness ends?

All the portal bound students go there, all the D1 schools go there, have a collective combine type event and open negotiations and recruiting, invite the parents too, have a dance floor, sponsored by PayPal, ZellePay, CashApp, for bags to be dropped electronically, may be eBay to allow open bidding of bags, even using bitcoins.

They used to do that.

It was called the "Coaches Convention".

Wonder if some of it has nothing to do with players really being unhappy but a search for an ego boost to see who contacts and wants me? To play D1 ball a kid needs confidence, a number of these kids who dream being a major cog at a bigger named school may just be seen as providing additional insurance on a depth chart by that school, giving them more options.

Not really surprised at all. Not an impact offensive player at all, more of a very good defensive asset, who has played sparingly over his 4 year career. Even this year when Duke struggled so much, he was out of the starting lineup more than he was in. This year his shooting stats continued to be very poor but his assist to turnover and steals stats were his strengths. Personally I was surprised he stayed after last year. Coach K plays talent and upperclassmen who don’t play much, often end up leaving or are resigned to the bench. He was a 3 star recruit out of high school.
