Lets play a series with UConn

If you want to talk about elite 8 or sweet 16's, I've got 15 or 20 to talk about, the worst being in the Elite 8 where Higgins called a technical on Moten for calling TO with 4 seconds left against Arkansas. We had a 1 point lead at the time. Moten never completed the act of making a "T" with his hands and withdrew at the last instance. However, Higgins had a chance to grandstand, and he would never give up that opportunity.

That was actually a second round game but still that team was going to the FF had they gotten past Arkansas.

We were a seven seed that year, but if the 2011 UConn team could win, so could we.

If anything BC should be a lesson for UConn. They had some nice seasons from time to time in mid 90's to mid 00's. They had no real recruiting power but tried to recruit the right players. And sometimes it worked out - but everything had to work out perfectly. Without recruiting, its just difficult to sustain a team that can compete at the upper levels nearly every year.

And that will be your life UConn.

It was certainly possible. That 1995 team had much more talent than a 7 seed as well.

I am convinced we would have made the FF. That is why I rank that loss in my top 5 all time most painful losses because a) the game was over and b) we were really peaking and like you said were so much better than a 7 seed.

But many of you (cuse fans and uconn fans alike) need to simply recognize that syracuse and uconn are both top flight basketball schools. One school has a longer period of success, the other more national championships. And neither are going to lose that status any time soon.

Therein lies the rub, and the one point the UConn fanbase cannot refute.
Their 2 bball teams have performed great, but if on-field performance was the criteria, they would've been scooped up by now.

I hate UConn as much as the next guy but to say that their 3 NC's aren't as good as SU's 2 Championship game losses because UConn beat Butler and Georgia Tech and SU lost to Indiana and Kentucky is so unbelievably stupid that I can't believe anyone even thought it, much less wrote it.

If the shoe was on the other foot and a fan of another school posed that to you, what would your response be? A Championship is a championship is a championship. Doesn't matter how you got there or who you beat. They got 3, we got 1. 3 is more than 1. End of argument.

Both schools have great winning basketball traditions, both schools can be ranked among the elite programs in division I hoops, but face it fellas - they've been better. More NC's, more BE Championships. There's no denying it.

Now - all that being said, I do agree (and hope) that their future is bleak.
