Mayors in NYC & LA

This is such a weird time to be alive.

I admit I'm a trump guy. These Governors are Tyrants. Coumo, Murphy, Whitmer. So Good on The President.

That being said why Mr. President did you put the power of re-opening on the Govenors then telling them to call your own shots.

As far as Tyrant Govenor Coumo speaking as a CNY Local. He better not keep us locals of CNY (and other counties regions outside NYC) on shutdown as long as the Greater NYC Tri-State area. We are gonna be ready and able to re-open restart before them. Treat us as a Region not as an Overall State.

Like I said the people will only take this so long.

I'm not sure why the sarcastic dig with your last sentence...I didn't cite any tragic medical situations.

I'm aware of your 3 bullet points but mandatory for grade school kids vs the side effects is asinine. Again, we're not talking mumps or measles or meningitis.
Your numbers are just so off on all of this, but I'm intrigued. 8 year olds aren't allowed to get the vaccine.

Ahh the famous pandemic manual apparently briefed to him in the middle of the Russian Collusion conspiracy.

The first thing that goes to crap is the plan with first contact with the enemy. I think Trump is right to get private business involved and not totally rely on govt agencies... didn't the CDC botch the initial testing and that cost us like 2 weeks?

I do agree though you need basic responses laid out...just be prepared that you will deviate from them. It happened to me flying in the military all the time during complex operations.
Trump wasn't participating in the impeachment process, so one would think he had time to take care of other important business.

But in reality he was just watching TV like the rest of us...

And if you are talking about the training his team did back in 2017 on the pandemic playbook, he's fired most of the people that sat in that training. Or they are waiting to go to jail.

You know exactly what it means. It means there will be consequences for this pandemic and their attempted coverup. Possibly monetarily, possibly sanctions, possibly higher tariffs for Chinese goods, high enough that their products arent competitive here.

Some lawmakers are saying that all medical and medicinal product manufacturing should be brought back to the US already. That alone would cost them hundreds of billions.

Look up some video from Dr Michael Osterholm on youtube. An expert virologist and "disease detective". There are 156 drugs that some Americans absolutely NEED to live or they literally will die without. How many of them are made in China...yep, all 156, none in any other country. If something, anything were to happen...like this again and China had to shut down production again, people not having a virus will die. That's akin to outsourcing your military's ammunition to China.
I’m all for robust supply chains of critical supplies, but I really hope that we aren’t dumb enough to turn this pandemic into a trade war, especially one involving medical supplies, especially during the pandemic.

The (insert political extreme here) in this country is already fighting a remarkably destructive war against free trade as is, which is like going to war with a surplus of ammunition, only to then use it on yourself.

The President's tweets don't send shivers down your spine?
Some do...but most are me shaking my head yes. His Tweets have me laughing most of the time as he triggers the weak and idiots in politics/media.

Corporate media and the deep state are horrible. Trump got elected because folks West of I-95 and East of I-5 are pissed off.

Shivers, no.

Do I shake my head? Sure. Almost always. But the replies from troll nation are no better.

The man knows how to self promote. Always has.

Most on the left thing he's the cause for the divide. I think he's the product of it. Started way before him. (before Obama too). Just kept building.

Not sure what you are asking? He has done great things and has also made mistakes.
He's in a position of leadership at one of those agencies. Is he one of the King like entrenched bureaucrats you were referencing?

I've got way too many acquaintances saying he's deep state, implanted there so many, many, many years ago to help during this specific time. With no irony whatsoever.

This thread is amazing and totally explains why this country is going to be voting for one of two senile, racist rapists in November. The irony is palpable

My team good, your team bad! Duuurrrrr
What is your take on how Bernie's flock is going to vote (or not vote)?

He is entrenched...5 administrations, right?

I didn't even know who was before March. I'm not ready to impale him on a media spike though. He has a tough job along with Brix and we need to support them through this (or until we lose confidence in them).

Like on some level I get the “government is the problem” sentiment but there actually are things where a competent coordinated response from the federal government would be preferable. It’s not like the virus can’t cross state lines.

Beuracracy is not per se a bad thing.

We don't need to worry about losing confidence in him. I've given up on her. I don't need a person in her position to consider economics for one second. Address the pandemic and let other people do what they are specialists in.

And he is entrenched because he's one of the world's leading experts in the field. EXACTLY the kind of person you want in the job. Not someone who is just willing to say yes to the president.

But you have to admit (experts) don't always lead well. Technical competence is a small part of being a great leader

I agree. The government is very corrupt and both parties are to blame so I completely understand the distrust most people in our country have for relying on it. In other ways they have the ability to make things happen that just are not possible in private enterprise alone. Some of the public/private partnerships we have in place are very valuable especially right now.

For example, my company got contracted to take over call centers for UI and SB loans to help process all of these claims faster for people. Some people will look at this and say well now you're paying this companies employess more money than that job is worth. On the plus side, we have the resources and infrastructure in place to ramp up in a matter of days instead of waiting weeks for those government entities to go through the process on rolling all those people on normally and the costs that come with that.

Well-written, practical article. I like him also ... despite our policy differences. I've seen him interviewed several times and he's well-spoken. Guy was in Devgru - Team 3, and I've read that his first deployment was Fallujah (holy crap). As he concedes, the hitch is going to be testing. I would expect that to include both public and private labs, working with (hopefully) better cooperation and leadership now that the military is helping with the federal response. We've ramped up production (3.3M so far), but the protocols are still too high to catch asymptomatic carriers. The results need to take minutes not days. And the test kit numbers (along with re-agents, swabs, PPE and personnel) need to be massively up-scaled. Addressing these supply challenges is key to a successful phased re-opening.
Crenshaw will be a Presidential Candidate by 2028. He appears to be genuine and could help heal the divide.

I hope Biden nominates Half-Witmer as VP.

She'll send shivers down the spine of undecided voters when they realize she'll be the President in 2022.
Lol to Half-Witmer. She does seem a little wild-eyed (probably from going to MIch. State).
