NIL

It looks like Syracuse is ready with their "Accelerate" program.

I would say it's up to the coach to set team rules and enforce them. i.e. you can do this NIL stuff, but it better not conflict with what you are there to do.
Yeah I don’t see that being a problem. No different than missing practice for any number of reasons,it’s the coaches job to enforce the rules.

Players are going to get paid.
This isn’t going to be as bad as people make it out to be.

Instead of getting nothing players can get whatever they can.
Boosters aren’t going to just waste money.
They will offer benefits no doubt but use common sense.
Most rich people don’t waste money. They know what they are doing.
Boosters wasted money for years under the table

There’s definitely a generational gap here. Seems like everyone over 50 thinks this is doomsday and anyone under doesn’t. College Sports already wasn’t exactly on a level playing field anyway. Just get it out there so the member schools can’t play favorites.
Good point.Alabama, Clemson and a couple others are the only ones winning a championship anyway. Basketball is a little different as one player can really change things dramatically.

Wonder which one of our guys will be the first to ink a deal? Buddy/JG3/Benny is probably the safe bet. I'd think Buddy would be a hot name locally.

JBA's take on it...slightly edited.

I think this will end up being the problem. 2-3 guys in a team with a great deal. Everyone else having to watch them make money. It’ll be a new reason for the portal. “I can get a better money deal at college B so I’m going to transfer out of college A

You would be surprised.
I’m the worlds worst about saying “I was just as happy when I had nothing” but in all reality money isn’t almost alway a bad thing. It damn sure will make people do some unbelievable low down stuff, but I think most of us like it when we can afford to do and have nice things.

Then this changes nothing for them. Except they can get publicity for their money now.
I guess it’s their money and if it makes them happy to sniff a few jocks then have at it.

Does this mean if I'm at a road game, and I see players out at dinner a bar after, I can buy a round? (assuming they're of age of course)
It was a blast hanging out with the team in the casino at Atlantis that final night, but it was a little awkward trying to make sure nobody was breaking any rules, or in a position that could be conceived as breaking any rules

Just ask them for an autograph and then you can give them money or something I am sure that will be allowed now.

Think all of the full team photos/posters that get sold will have to result in each of the kids getting a portion of those sales, correct?

Is this exclusive to college in terms of some of the state laws? For instance plenty of HS's sell programs to this effect...

I'm generally much happier not waking up in the middle of the night with anxiety about the fact that my entire paycheck will go to bills, rent and student loans. This is a great day for all college athletes.

Can they they play in TBT without losing eligibility?
Can they play in the NBA in the offseason is the bigger question? Imagine the bird rule comes back and players are drafted and allowed to play in college and can join post march madness for the playoff run.

I suspect this may be helpful to the NBA if they can just store the players in college while they mature, make some scratch, learn some skills, and then come when ready

If social media followers now = $$, i hate to think what some players will post to get attention.

That said, I am 100% in favor of players being treated like all other college students who can do whatever they want to make money off their own talents.
