OC Rumors

The twofourseven site had an Illinois analysis on Tommy. Was looking thru the gifs. Had some good and bad.

I was mesmerized by this one. Just watch Tisdale at RG. This is the fumble against Rutgers. Imagine telling the new OC that this was one of the regular rotation OL.

Why we didn’t run Tucker on 1st down there was behind me. Also Tisdale is terrible, made they guy look like Reggie White

Well there's a reason he was our lowest rated starter as far as 2021 performance is concerned.

nothing says Dino didnt move some money around as well to help the OC hire. maybe he took some of his buyout clause and applies it towards a coach he wants

My gut feeling (no inside info here) is that the decision to retain Dino was made primarily by the chancellor and the BOT.

Remember that SU has already fired one of their few African-American head coaches in Q just a few months ago.

I suspect the powers that be were concerned over the optics of firing Dino as well so soon after Q was let go. I think they really wanted to give Dino every opportunity to succeed and were willing to take whatever hits retaining Dino might entail.
Not saying what you're saying doesn't have some measure of validity. But if there was even 1% of truth to this, it is ridiculous, IMO.

If a human being isn't performing up to the level of expectation, that human being should not be given more of an opportunity to succeed than any other human being.

The optics of the firing should be an unsuccessful coach lost his job and has made plenty of money coaching this team to 1 bowl game in 6 years.

I'll even give him a pass for last year - 1 bowl in 5 years is not good enough at 2/3 of the schools in the country. 4-8, 4-8, 5-7, 5-7, 10-3. Those are the results.

This may not be a popular take, but this sort of thing should never happen.

And then putting him in at Tackle when he was less than 100% end of year. Yeah no wonder wheels fell off

And not even a good one. One year at South Carolina, fired. One year at Auburn, fired.

If he wants to continue the trend, we'd be a good landing spot.

But damn, think of all the Mark Richt love we'll get on ACC network.
Auburn didn't even crack the top 50 in total offense this year. Think they finished in the 60's and we were in the 90's, so yeah that's improvement but not what I was hoping for.

62nd. Ran for 165 passed for 240 a game. They had a lot of fumbles on Offense (8).

Again. This was against SEC defenses mostly

SEC had 9 defenses in top 62. Auburn had 9th best total offense in SEC

Wow i hope SU hasnt gone this route as its a very slippery slope. Employees need to stand on their own not their color, race or any other factor.

My gut is the decision was made by the chancellor and the BOT but it’s because we didn’t want to spend the money.

I can’t believe for one second any of that previous post.
If Dino was kept for that then he is hear for the rest of his contract.

The women’s basketball coach wasn’t even fired he resigned. He should have been fired.

Money played a huge role despite what Wildhack said in the PC.
And it really was the only answer he could give publicly. If people think we are at a competitive disadvantage now in recruiting, putting the program is so broke (in college football financial terms) that the only reason the coach is there is we can’t afford to get rid of him certainly won’t help that.

this 100%. Q was at the center of a major scandal and had to go, and Dino has been given 6 years to turn the program around which in this day and age is beyond reasonable , so I don't think the optics would look bad here at all from a racial standpoint.

I think the program has been turned around, even this year a big step forward.. just hasnt resulted in wins/losses we all wanted. its not like only one thing was broke here.

Tell me you don't know they play college football in November without telling me you don't know they play college football in November.

That reminds me Dino has been pretty bad in November.

2016 0-4 avg score 23.75 - 52.5
2017 0-4 avg score 22.75 - 47.25 (progress !)
2018 3-1 avg score 35 - 26
2019 2-2 avg score 37.25 - 37.5 (same ppg as year before if do not count OT points).
2020 0-3 avg score 21 - 27.33
2021 0-3 avg score 11.33 - 37.67

2016, 2017, 2020 the O had the excuse of backup QBs. This year was embarrassing. Overall it really was the D those years that stunk it up.

5-17 in November under Dino. Yikes. Nightmare November indeed.

Just brutal, hard to imagine being that bad in November.

If you add in the first week of December he is 5-18 to the end of the season. Is a .217 W % not good? Kind of amazing that in 2019 it was our best month that season.

I hope it did otherwise JW isn't qualified to be AD

I mean, 29-43 overall
24-25 September and October
5-18 November and December

Winning when it counts so we can focus on hoops in November and December

Dino must wish we would stop the count after election day. Then his record isn't all that bad.
