Syracuse - Wisconsin series announced

So people would rather go 5-7 and sit home instead of 6-6 with a bowl game and the extra practices? I think SU should play lower-level P5 schools until something changes with the ACC division set-up/schedule.
Again I would say if we play 3 reasonable OOC games and 1 challenge game that shouldn't be the reason we don't go bowling.
We have FSU/Clemson annually but we also have BC/Wake/NC State/Pitt annually as well. I don't think we expecting to go 3-1, 3-5 should be that tough if we have the right talent/scheme/coaching in place.

I'd agree, but I don't know if SU is there yet. Why not schedule Illinois instead- especially with a recruiting focus back around Chicago?

I mean I have no problem scheduling Illinois but Wisconsin is a fresher series and will have more juice. In 5 years we should hopefully be better. Also, to be technical Madison/Wisconsin is close to Chicago media market.

In spite of Clemson and Louisville being #2&3 in the division, and the conference in reality, Syracuse played them hard and close while being beat up, on the umpteenth QB, an O-line that was almost ready to ask the fanbase to try out so they could spell the "starters" for a play or two, and an OC change that would shake up any team. Syracuse is ready to break loose. It will feel great when they do. I don't think the Orange are looking back any longer.

Love these type of series. Somebody new too with the exception of the kickoff classic years ago.
I agree. Much respect for Camp Randall. It is one of the college football venues I want most to visit. Plus, it is close to Chicago, where we have a recruiting presence and a place cheap and simple for SU fans to travel to.

That being said, when you are a struggling P5 program, it is relatively easy to to schedule a football power. Especially a B1G one with their new scheduling rules.

What we should be focusing on is trying to schedule fellow struggling P5 programs, or FCS programs. Ones that play in areas we recruit. The bad programs are the ones most in demand, the ones that smarter programs are locking games with now.

Lock in series with Colgate, Purdue, Indiana, Northern Illinois, Rutgers, FIU, FAU, UMass, Temple, Akron, etc.

Emphasize programs we can beat that play in areas that are important for us recruiting. Yes, let's continue to play a tough P5 opponent some years. But focus on securing the scarce commodity first. This is why the UConn series was a better move for Syracuse than the Wiscy series...

No, I imagine people would rather go 8-4.

Look, ideally we're still playing 3 creampuff OOC games. We still get to play schools like Wake, NC State, BC and Pitt annually. And it's not like Louisville, Clemson and our ACC Coastal opponents are locks to be worlds better than us every year in perpetuity.

Honestly, if we can't find THREE wins a year against the middle of the ACC, then this program is screwed in so many ways that this "debate" isn't even worth having.

I love it. I want to continue getting home and home series with top teams. It'll be a tough game but I look forward to it. I hate the notion that people are don't want to schedule tough teams to bolster the record. I want to watch some of the best teams come to the dome.

What's in it for Illinois? It takes two to tango, right?

It's also 5 years from now. So we're still going to be so bad in 5 years that we need to schedule 4 terrible OOC teams so we can appear to have a better record? Shoot me.

That's the way I look at it too besides a great program coming to the Dome. This is 5 years out. If 5 years from now we're still trying to right the ship and don't have a solid program, it won't matter whether we're playing Wisconsin or Illinois.

One of the best spots on the planet for an away game in September. Mad town is a total blast and beautiful in the fall. Tcat will love the golf.

College football should be fun. This will be fun. We gotta stop assuming we'll suck forever

That's so weak of Keeley to just expect SU to avoid P5 teams altogether.

I thought that maybe Keeley didn't write that himself, then just read the absolutely pathetic post he wrote himself on the announcement. I used to check that site several times a day, but it's so negative. When I'm bored at work sometimes I remember it exists and read it. His commenters are a couple steps up from Syracuse.com in terms of negativity.

he's flattering himself a little too much

we just thought it was a stupid tweet

TNIAAM has been my go to blog on SU Sports these past 5 years but jekelish Otto'sGrove has been moving up my charts.
If we are worried about games 5 years from now we have beyond #firstworldproblems.

This Wisconsin series is fresh and good as long as we don't schedule another P5 team during those 2 years.
