29K

The crowd was indeed tiny, but not unexpected. We don't have a big season ticket base and not too many people were going to walk up for a Wagner game. Next week will be more telling.

We need to get our season ticket base to the 25,000 and reduce the seating capacity in the dome after renovations to 44,000.

Irish Fest killed our attendance. Joking...but it may have slightly impacted it.
Did anyone else go check out the "New and Improved Quad"? I started my day at Shaughnesys, then got to the quad around 1:45. I heard there was supposed to be live bands, televisions everywhere so you could watch the games, food trucks, a DJ...Maybe I got there too late, but I saw no live bands (unless you count the marching band), no D.J., no food trucks, no TV's. The only difference I noticed was an extra food tent or 2, and the availability of beer.
Did I just get there too late, or were the improvements not all implemented yet?

This is the list of things put out by SUAD . I'm not sure where you got food trucks.

PRE-GAME ENTERTAINMENT
  • 'Cuse on the Quad (tent open to fans of all ages)
    • Opens three hours prior to kickoff
    • Food and beverage garden (concession style) -- Menu: Cuse.com/Quad
    • Live music and DJs
    • Televisions showing ESPN College GameDay and college football games in-progress.
    • "Pride of the Orange" Marching Band (Hendricks Chapel stairs)
    • Syracuse IMG Radio Network pre-game show (begins two hours prior to kick off)

tvs and food were in the tent.. didnt see any live bands and i dont know where the food trucks went if there were any.

I'm not where I got the food trucks from...maybe I was thinking about Shaughnesys? What I really wanted to see were the live bands...I saw none.

The dome should be at capacity every single game. I should know because I'm not a season ticket holder and haven't been to a game at the dome in 5 years. I did see them in Charlottesville a couple years ago though so that's where I get my expertise on this stuff.

Wait...I thought scoring a lot of points and winning would bring the fans in?

Guess you have to chalk it up to Wagner + what else? It wasn't labor day weekend, wasnt the kick time, no leaves on the ground, 330 kick is the most popular...is it marketing? General trend in CFB?

Were you there? I was and thought the crowd was respectable for Wagner. 60+% capacity for Wagner with no real reason to believe the team is good, yet, is not bad IMHO. You do a ton of moaning on all things SU.

I was there and felt that the 29K number was very generous. I felt like there were 20-25K, but these things are hard to estimate.

I always feel so guilty when these threads pop up. I’d be at every game (including b-ball and lacrosse) if I could. It’s just not logistically feasible. I know it’s not personal, though.

We stayed for the entire game (we’re not leaving early after traveling for hours unless the field is on fire).

A short drive for Wagner, they seemed to represent pretty well.

My stand ran out of dome dogs before kickoff. They were so unorganized.

I no longer use the term 'Dome Dog'. I asked for one last year and the people running the stand had no idea what I was asking for.

Remember those big ones they use to have?

Lets see what the casual Syr.com.reader has read in the last 5 months.
17 articles saying SU was picked last in the ACC.

22 articles about how bad our attendance is.

14 articles saying Syracuse is one of the worst P5 programs.

8 articles saying we just generally suck.

Its a miracle we got as many as we did.

Note Hyperbole was intended.

Your coming off a lot of losing seasons in a row I don’t think they should expect 45
Thousand for Wagner. If they beat Florida State then we can talk about UConns attendance

Umm a fact of it maybe that this game was over on the third play of the game. Found myself multitasking in the 2nd half

Wagner's better than UConn

Even Stanford who could legit win it all had 10k empty seats and USC is the biggest game on their schedule.

Things are changing people want to watch at home honestly just be happy we filled it for Clemson. Thread is full of whacky takes especially when BC gets brought up.

But since I think NC State will knock off WVU next week and could be coming off a win vs Clemson whats the attendance swing for us depending on if we beat this miserable UNC team or not week before? At least 10k IMO.

There was certainly a live band. Talked to a couple of the members in the Dome and just watched video of them on Spectrum news prior to the interview with Anthony DiFino.

I took my son and his 2 friends to the game. Neither of the friends has ever been to Syracuse. They all play 9th grade football and had the week off. their comments... I didn't know Syracuse was an actual city(lol). They loved the Ernie Davis Statue. They Loved the dome( they were never in one). Small crowd, Penn State gets more people(little piss ants). and the big one... all 3 hate our uniforms. I showed them pics of the 90's version and they wanted to know why we changed them. but they all had fun and would love to come back. looking forward to Yankee stadium. my son can't wait
