ACC Tournament Hopes

I would think that the Kardashians, having seen a lot of NBA play(ers) up close, may not be up for the quality of basketball being played in the Dome these days. I know I'm not.
Yup. I can't believe that I know this but I think they have been involved with Humprhies, Odom, Thompson and Booker. Probably a few more out there as well.

I think they are more fans of those who play basketball.

If Kiyan stays committed to Syracuse with Autry as coach, I suspect Melo would prefer that he be retained for year 3 (and maybe more). I've wondered on this board why Melo would want that but I think the answer was provided in his 45 minute Boardroom Cover Story interview posted elsewhere on here. It appears that Melo coaches Kiyan from the stands and intends to keep doing so. They've developed a number system where Melo can yell out a nunber and Kiyan knows what it means. I don't know that every head coach would be happy with that type of parental individual in-game coaching. But I suspect Autry would have no choice.
So, Melo wants Autry to stay, even though he has shown to be a poor coach, just so Melo can yell out plays for his son from the stands?? I find that really, really hard to believe.

We beat NC St on Wed, we should be good. If we lose, I think we're toast unless Cal completely craps the bed.

I sure hope not.

Last thing we need next year is Melo ghost coaching from the stands in Daddyball2.

Not a chance in hell I'd tune in to watch any games if that is the case. I would venture a guess I wouldn't be alone.

Oh I don't think Melo feels it has to be Autry. But not every other coach is going to be happy with dad coaching from the sidelines during games. He knows he'll be able to do it with Autry.

How do we know that Melo will be coaching from the stands? I find this highly doubtful. I can see him giving his son pointers/coaching when in HS but not at a major university in the ACC. It just doesn't make sense to me. Also, nothing is preventing any dad from doing this. Hell, I can yell out numbers to his son too.

Because he said he would in the interview.

Are you talking about the few seconds that he talks about telling his son (during a high school game) to get to a certain spot by calling out a number? Tell me that there is more to it than that to infer he wants Red to remain head coach so he can "coach" from the stands.

Here's why: (and I say this with great respect to you, your opinion and your question) cause otherwise why else in the world would he ever want THIS coaching staff to coach his son who he wants and expects to play in the NBA? It otherwise makes no sense. I started out asking that question in one of these threads (I forgot which one but I can go find it if you'd like). I later thought the answer was in that interview. Now I could say it sarcastically but I haven't come up with, nor seen, another sensible reason why Kiyan is coming to Syracuse. [Please don't take offense from my response. I mean none. I'm just shouting it from the rooftops.]

How would that even work? The team is running Play A through (because that's all our guys can remember, per JB), and Melo is calling out different plays for Kiyan? Are we sure Melo wasn't talking about just telling his kid things he can do within the scheme of the game, like, "You gotta move more, be agressive, B-E-Agressive, cut to the open spots, they're giving you the outside shot, don't let the white kid shoot..." stuff like that?

Fair enough. I can understand what you're saying about why in the earth would he want Red coaching his son for the next couple of years to help him get ready for the nba. Maybe Melo feels like he'll handle the stuff around him (breaking down tape, developing him in the summer, etc). I don't know. It's definitely perplexing

THANK YOU for your reasoned response. And not taking any of my ranting as being towards you. I appreciate it. The current situation with the program is very aggravating. I think you & I generally are in agreement though maybe not whether Melo will coach Kiyan from the stands during games.
