Lydon on Draft Express

I think there's a decent chance he can make a G league team. FWIW Cooney was starting by the end of the year. If he can show himself to be an elite rebounder there he will get a shot.
The D-League is filled with very good basketball players with NBA or near NBA level skills who physically just don't match the profile that teams are looking for today. It's also populated by a lot guys who have had a cup of coffee in the NBA or will one day play there.

I really couldn't read or type in my last few posts. Using this board on my phone was not a success. I meant to type: you really think Robey IS even G league? Maybe he does get a look in the G as a rebounding specialist. I don't think that would last.

Correct. Also not all of the next best players after the NBA level are playing in the G league because the pay is crap. That's why CJ went to Europe and Triche did before him as well until making good money.

Yes, if you have skills but are a longshot to land an NBA spot, and you're looking to maximize your income, it's probably best to look at landing a spot abroad. You also get to experience living in a different culture.

#40 to Pelicans here at Bleacher Report...

Yeah, I said I'm in the minority. I wouldn't be shocked by late first but I'm saying second. Hope like hell I am wrong.

Edit: OH, you said I'm in the MAJORITY? I misread that, probably because in my head, I expected you to say MINORITY. I really think most people on this board are projecting him to go higher than I am. One thing that might help Lydon is I haven't heard the foreign talent pool being that amazing this year.

I don't know. We all see it differently, of course, so I just see a lot saying he won't go 1st round. Those that say he will, I probably glance over and give them an internet nod of approval. I do feel like most don't have as much confidence as I do that he will go higher than expected.

The International pool is absolutely weak this year. Plenty of draft and stash 2nd rounders, but not as many as usual that will go in the 1st round.

I would be absolutely shocked if he slips into the 2nd round. I'm no genius, that's for sure. I do pay a lot of attention to the NBA Draft. NFL as well. These days it's one of the only times I turn on that awful channel.

Sure, he could slip. I just really doubt a team hopes they can get him in the 2nd, and waits. When they can add a 6'10 stretch 4 in the 1st round. This is a PG heavy draft up top, and a solid top 10ish. But, after that it really isn't too deep and anything could happen.

His shooting at the combine was lights out. He has some body fat. Easy fix. There has to be a handful, or two of teams that love Tyler.

His defense was underrated. He protected the rim well. Rebounded well, and is an intelligent player. Not to mention more athletic than some think. His vertical, and other athleticism tests were better than I thought they would be.

He played out of position most of the time, which we all know. Scouts will see that, and realize he's worth a 1st round pick to develop into a 4 with loads of potential.

A kid who could hit over 40% from deep in the NBA, and is 6'10 is going round 1. Just my opinion. Wish it would get here already.

DraftExpress updated their mock yesterday as well and still haveLydon in the first going to the Jazz at the end of round one.

Yeah it'll be really late first if at all in my completely uninformed opinion. You think first, right? Too lazy to go back in this thread.

I think he goes somewhere from 16-30 as that's where most of the teams who have worked him out are drafting. I think the the teams most likely to select him based on need are OKC, Utah, Portland, or Toronto.

I'm not saying 2nd round because he hasn't worked out for many of those teams.

Anyway the 2nd Round isn't a death sentence despite what most people on this board say because the early second rounders still get guaranteed money(think Draymond/Brogdon/Patrick Mccaw/Jerami Grant etc).

I do probably follow this more than most, but I am a bigger NBA junkie than most Cuse fans on the board.

He's gonna need one team to see something in him that the majority don't to go in the first round (maybe they project him as a great shooter?) - is he a PF? because if he is a SF then he is slow and he cannot dribble or get to the rim and that cannot be disputed

He is clearly being looked at as a 4, and seems to be a good fit there in terms of measurables. No one that I can recall has spoken of him as a 3 at the next level.

This is the rosiest, most best case scenario for Lydon possible. His skill set is the set most common in the NBA. Every team has a couple of him. He lacks lateral movement and will struggle quite a bit guarding nba bugs.

I think he goes 1st round as well. Barely. But he could go much later too. Pretty safe bet either way he is in Europe in a few years. No shame in that

Let's just say that's true, and he does have the most common skill set - shouldn't that suggest how highly the NBA values that skill set?!?!

or it means how easily they can fill that skill set so why pay first round money for it

At least use facts if you're going to point out a weakness. He had the third fastest shuttle time at the combine.

You want to say you've never see him play man, that's a more factual weakness you point out. This NBA loves shooting.

I think even our fans are labeling him as just the slow, tall white guy who can shoot. He's much more than that. Man, we wouldn't have won 10 games without him last year.

Hes not slow, I wouldn't say hes really quick either, he is what he is.

Maybe, Im starting to think its 50/50 for him to be a first round pick.

I'll put up 200 for your 100. If it's 50/50 then look at that value.

So wait if he goes in the first round I give you 100, if he doesn't you give me 200? I still think he will be a first round pick, so im not sure what I am betting, my point that is he is no lock, which is true.

That would be the bet.

If you really believe it's a 50/50 proposition, that's a good bet for you.

But I believe he will be a first round pick so it would be going against what I believe in. My point is that he won't acknowledge that he could be a 2nd round pick, which I dont understand how that is possible.
