I mean if a booster owns a business and tells the kid I got a $15,000 endorsement deal for you ready to go. Or I got a $15,000 autograph signing at my place of business for you to do for 1 hour on a Friday night. But just between you and me you only get this if you commit to or transfer to (insert school name)...there is no way to regulate that.Is it going to be considered tampering for purposes of the transfer portal, if persons "not affiliated with the official program" (ha!) contact players to suggest they transfer?
That's my thought.I mean if a booster owns a business and tells the kid I got a $15,000 endorsement deal for you ready to go. Again, was this stuff happening before of kids getting paid under the table? of course, we aren't naive, but now with everything above board it just makes it easier and will make it more rampant.
I think it’s a lot of people’s thought, but it is what it is.Same big boys will be at the top and maybe even some of the little guys can sneak in a couple 5 star players now that they can get some cash in the college towns that worship their teams. That's my thought.
So are agents fair game now?
yep... also...is everyone forgetting the same teams play for the title every year?I think it’s a lot of people’s thought, but it is what it is.Same big boys will be at the top and maybe even some of the little guys can sneak in a couple 5 star players now that they can get some cash in the college towns that worship their teams.

I’m not so sure. Definitely not immediately. But there may be a kind of slow righting towards more parity.yep... also...is everyone forgetting the same teams play for the title every year?
6 teams have been in the 14 available championship game positions since the playoffs started.
The idea this changes anything is silly.
Splitting the $ to help teammates with families in need is boss.
great. Now the steinbergs of the world are involved? Just like pro contracts he negotiates he’ll be negotiating with the highest bidders for HS kids. That’s not NIL.
Smart move. Way to make money off their brand.
And this is why I have been against this for the beginning because I saw where this was going and it's only going to get way worse. Yeah, it's great for the upperclassmen of 2021 who can now make a few bucks to do an autograph show and such. Maybe get a deal with the local bank or car dealership to do a 30-second commercial. Sure, nobody is against that. But this is going to spiral to the gutter within days.great. Now the steinbergs of the world are involved? I don't begrudge players getting paid for commercials or branding items - they contribute hard work and talent and deserve to be compensated. Those in NY could also benefit from the proposed athlete injury insurance pool (if NY Senate Bill S6722B passes). But the broader concern is that, without a proper statutory framework or useful guidance from the NCAA, a patchwork of rules (if any) will develop in the various states. And as many of us know, when money sloshes around, the people benefitting the most and wielding the most power probably won't be the athletes. My worry is that NIL will be a vector for current underground, pseudo-educational SEC-style pay-for-play schemes, widening the resource gap and bleeding into recruiting, the transfer portal, "performance conditions", and beyond. Personally I'm happy to buy a Buddy-Buckets Tee Shirt. But I also recognize that poorly controlled NIL is a lot more dangerous than people think. And this is why I have been against this for the beginning because I saw where this was going and it's only going to get way worse. As you mentioned rrlbees, the next step and we will see this in a few weeks if not sooner, the big-time high school recruits will be signing with the Leigh Steinberg's of the world, and the Leigh Steinberg's of the world will be negotiating with colleges and the local business to get their "client" at the best school with the best endorsement deal to ensure the years they are in school they are paid handsomely by the local businesses for "endorsements" and such.
And my fear is a school like Syracuse is going to get left behind because these agents are going to be funneling kids to select places and I'm guessing Syracuse (in all sports) won't be near the top of the list. Nor does a city the size of Syracuse (or expand it out to Onondaga County) have enough businesses who will pay the big bucks to attract kids for endorsements and such.
And when Syracuse does uncover that diamond in the rough of a 2-star recruit who ends up playing like a 5-star player, numerous agents will then swoop in, sign the kid and get him in the transfer portal ASAP and get him paid and put him in a better position to make the next level (in whatever sport they play).
I think it’s already been that way. Opening the floodgates and making it more above board will either expose a dirty underbelly that needs exposing or work itself out as a regulated market.. or both.I don't begrudge players getting paid for commercials or branding items - they contribute hard work and talent and deserve to be compensated. We are going to need Wegmans, Fuccillo, or some big local business to step up and compete on this level.
$500 a month from just one source. If two or 3 other places in South Florida do something similar with the entire roster it will make it an attractive place for recruits to go.It's $500/month. Not a "huge" deal. A good deal since it involves all players, but not close to being "huge".

Plus simple math $500 Guaranteed > $0
