Meanwhile a board darling that had we hired would’ve turned us around and had us as a top 20 team….

Had a tough loss today. The team they played had a SR PG that dominated them

Yup, two of the top names on the list to replace JAB are struggling this season. Pitino, 14-12, but 6-9 in conference and Ed Cooley, 8-17 with only one conference win.Meanwhile a board darling that had we hired would’ve turned us around and had us as a top 20 team….

Did Rick not have a chance to tour these "sh#tty facilities" before accepting the job?Good ole St Rick:
After latest St. John’s loss, Rick Pitino laments ‘sh*tty’ facilities, lack of toughness and ‘lost season’ due to recruiting

Pitino has brought three different teams to the final 4 and won 2 championships. He has a proven track record. Also St John’s has been garbage this century. Not exactly apples to apples. But but why didn’t we go after Pitino? Red is doing such a terrible job and Pitino is the savior. Funny how he says “first year coaches don’t win”. But man he threw them under the bus and then ran them over lol
95% of the posts on this board about making Pitino the next SU coach were tongue-in-cheek.But but why didn’t we go after Pitino? Red is doing such a terrible job and Pitino is the savior. Somewhere in the archives, there are posts of me singing praises of both those guys, but I don't think realistically that Syracuse would pay them what they would command. Plus, Miller has some baggage and Shaka's on court record has had some ups and downs. However, if I was starting a program from the ground floor, Shaka might be at the top of my list.I didn't want Pitino the two I wanted are having different results...
Sean Miller was my first choice and he is not doing well 13-12 at Xavier I don't know if he has had major injuries or not but that is a big disappointment compared to last year.
Shaka Smart was my second choice and well he is having an outstanding season so far and a lock for the tournament.
St. John’s had a better record than us the past two seasons. Rick showed everyone the door, got new players and they still stink. It’s almost like the first year is hard for everyone.Pitino has brought three different teams to the final 4 and won 2 championships. He has a proven track record. I didn’t want Slick Rick either so it’s no skin off my back. Last thing I’d want is another coach in their 70’s after JB. I’m just pointing out Ricks track record as a head coach with multiple teams vs. Red.St. John’s had a better record than us the past two seasons. I'd take Shakas top Assistant Nevada Smith. Tempo and offensive specialists. We need to think outside the box like we did HCFB.Somewhere in the archives, there are posts of me singing praises of both those guys, but I don't think realistically that Syracuse would pay them what they would command. It is hard, but there have also been some successes recently, like Tommy Lloyd, Jerome Tang, maybe Grant McCasland ... but there have been some successes at times. Red was always getting a pass from me this season. How he responds is going to go a long way towards future success.St. John’s had a better record than us the past two seasons. Might have helped if St Ricky didn't move a home game to Long Guyland.
Yes Xavier has been ravaged with injuries. They were excellent last year.I didn't want Pitino the two I wanted are having different results...

Close your eyes. Now imagine. Rick Pitino. And Kadari. And the dome is filled. And a (non-zone) defense that's relentless. And multi-year players that are well-coached and never complain to the officials or spend their time on the bench arguing or moping. And you have an offense that is faster than anything you have seen on the hardwood and never playing 4 on 5.lol. Wow, impressive.
